Beaver Bank Seniors Craft Fair

There were lots of things to see and buy at the Beaver Bank-Kinsac Seniors Shopping Spree, held recently at the Beaver Bank-Kinsac Community Hall. Tables held delightful items such as beaded jewellery, hand knit mittens and gloves. There was face painting for the kids and a clown entertained visitors with her flute. Kathy MacGillivray and her sister Sheila own and operate Pigs Jigs, and they are two talented performers. Their face-painting, done freehand, was simply outstanding. The children lined up for a beautiful butterfly or exquisite and sparkly mask. The siblings keep busy entertaining at fairs, gatherings and parties. To contact them call 865-3913 or 422-3237. Hedley Rocked D250

The D250 free concert, celebrating Democracy 250, was held Sept. 27 in the Parade Square in Halifax, and was a huge success.

Age was clearly not the deciding factor in who attended; people from two to 72 danced and clapped their hands as they listened to the music played during the performances of a variety of bands, and the crowd applauded wildly when Hedley, with lead singer Jacob Hoggard of Canadian Idol fame, took the stage.

Although the last act of the night kept concert-goers waiting before coming on-stage, music-lovers didn’t seem to mind. With his exposed arms showing off his many colourful tattoos, and his tight blue designer blue jeans, Hoggard delivered an exciting and energetic performance, just as expected. He jumped and bounced around in his trade-mark style, full of vim and vigor, even at the late hour.

Symptoms of a nerve entrapment include numbness, tingling, pain, weakness and tightness. Sciatica and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are the most common nerve entrapments. These are familiar terms to people but most don’t know what causes a nerve entrapment and that there are new treatment methods that are effective in managing them. Read more

With federal and municipal elections just behind us, and the provincial legislature in session, there’s a lot to talk about politically. First, I want to congratulate the NDP’s Peter Stoffer on again winning his seat with such an overwhelming majority. Citizens demonstrated their confidence in Peter’s continued ability to best represent them as an MP in Ottawa. Read more
