If this happened I have to give the mother credit for telling about it. It’s not only about the sex education. I think ten year old kids need to know the facts of life, but the basics are enough for now. About more detailed information, it should be up to parents to decide what their kids get or not. Same goes for just about anything. From what I read the mom did follow the rules and she did go to the teacher and say not to give her son that book, and she kept him home from school on the day the class was taught. What else could she have done? Aside from the topic of sex, to me this is more about my rights as a father versus the rights of the school or a teacher. If the facts in this story really are true then I think the school decided it would do whatever it wanted to do and ignored that mother and this time it went too far. Makes me wonder whats next.
The school wouldn’t have to teach this if parents did their job and taught the sex stuff to their kids like they should. So whose fault is it? Lazy parents gave schools the power.
I think that the parents should have the right to keep kids home from school on days that any sexual content may be introduced the a child. Sexual education should never be mandatory, but definitely offered to those who’s parents are willing to allow so.
