I would like to respond to comments made by MR Richard Boyce regarding the Waverley FallRiver Beaver Bank Volunteer Awards Committee and the legitimacy of the work it does. First , the board was formed during my time as an MLA and was picked from a group of individuals representing the whole constituency who were involved in volunteerism.I was involved because as an elected representative one interacts and contributes to the group efforts.Mr JOHN Boudreau was the founding chair and I was the finance chair, responsible for the funding for day to day operations . Currently Delphus Roy is chair and John Boudreau remains the treasurer. We keep an open door for new members and Mr Boyce would be welcome.
I would also offer ,that Mr Boyce could visit his neighbor across the street, John Boudreau or his neighbor on his left, Crawford Reid and get a financial statement.
I doubt, however that we will see either a personal appearance or a financial contribution from Mr Boyce.
Recent excerpts from an interview with MP Peter Stoffer with the editor of this paper asked questions regarding my comments in the above column regarding his failure to give to the volunteer board fundraiser to sponsor the awards banquet. Stoffer asked why I would be comenting on his failure to contribute. Well Peter ,the reason is I am a volunteer on the committee and just as your office assistant wrote the letter outlining your requests for giving a contribution I felt as a member of the fund raising committee I had a right to comment. I would also suggest that your personal contribution of 100.00 should have been forth coming when we informed your office that the demands for a publically funded contribution would not be met.The manner in which you handled this matter certainly says a lot about your appreciation for our volunteers , myself included.
