Re: bill c-201. What the heck is an annuity deduction (clawback)? Those are nice emotional words but not very helpful in explaining the issue or in getting public support! Is the annuity deduction something new that has not been part of the pension plan during the period these people worked. It strikes me that civil service pensions are more generous than most and I think we need to know more so we can determine if this is really an injustice to the pensioners or an injustice to the taxpayers.
Nice to see the ethics Commissioner has pulled the plug on excessive spending regarding information pieces coming from outside jurisdictions ;however I believe he should have gone further and eliminated such things as the quaterly photo album that circulates through our riding at tax payers expense.Should this album contain a record of constituency participation in achieving funding and support for community projects as opposed to partisan photo ops glad handing and delivering flags,I could justify the expense.
I also find the comments accusing members of sending out partisan messages highly hypocritical .When I see Mr Stoffer tucking an article about the founder of the NDP movement in the second pocket of a document folder bringing congratulations to our volunteers I am truly offended as a taxpayer by such accusations in the article above.
