Gary is correct– many parents could do more to discipline, hold accountable and provide good direction for their children. What we have are many children who are defiant, out of control, disrespectful, deceptive and unaccountable for their actions. They believe they are above the law. They run in private circles with their friends who have more influence over them then their parents. They misuse the trust that is placed in them. They forget or ignore their responsibilities to the society they belong to. They break their promises, spin their stories with eloquence, and operate in secret worlds. When confronted with the real child we do not recognize them as the person we thought they were. Hold it now, those are not our children, those are our MLAs. Now there are some individuals who should receive the rod.
I don’t think I buy lumping socialism in with weak kneed political correctness. Weak kneed political correctness comes in many forms, and varies according to who is defining it. It is shared by lots of people of all political stripes. I would agree that we can lay a share of blame on our culture, but not on our politics.
I couldn’t agree with you more Gary.
Seems to me that the rod/strap didn’t make you a better person…maybe you should have been hugged a little more.
