This years Fall River Riverlake Lions Christmas Parade will be held on Nov. 28, beginning at 1p.m. It will begin at the LWF Community Hall, 843 Fall River Rd., and will end at the Sobeys Parking lot. Come be a part of the parade or bring a friend to watch it. As always, it is sure to be a lot of fun for everyone!

Event Line-up for Keloose 2010

Keloose 2010 is shaping up to be an event to remember. The annual celebration runs from August 19 to the 22, with events taking place at both the LWF Community Hall, located at 843 Fall River Rd., and at the Windsor Junction Community Centre(WJCC).

A pre-teen dance will be held at the LWF Hall on August 19, beginning at 7p.m.

On August 20, the second Keloose Idol competition will start at 6p.m., also at the LWF Hall.

On August 21, the annual adult dance party will take place at the LWF Hall, with entertainment provided by the ever-popular Dave and Confused. Showtime is 9p.m.

On Sunday, August 22, the Windsor Junction Community Centre (WJCC) will play host to a corn boil by the lake, starting at dusk.

Also on August 22, a giant yard sale will be held starting at 10a.m., with all proceeds going to Keloose.

The annual kids parade will also be held that day, beginning at noon. The parade will start out at the Fall River School of Performing Arts and will finish at the WJCC.

Water Frolics for all ages will take place at the lake that afternoon; games begin at 1p.m.

Of course the legendary annual firefighters fireworks display will wrap up the 2010 Keloose celebration. The annual musical variety show will begin at 4p.m. and will end when the fireworks begin!

This years Keloose promises to be a great time, so why not pack up your entire family and bring them out for a weekend of fun! Hope to see you there!

Upcoming Auction in support of Rocky Lake Dome

The Rocky Lake Development Association (RLDA) and its subsidiary the Rocky Lake Dome (RLD) are a non profit organization with a volunteer board, whose objectives are to provide sporting facilities to Bedford, Fall River-Waverley, Sackville and HRM.

The Rocky Lake Dome, a full sized ice surface, has just completed its first ice season and is currently hosting lacrosse and ball hockey during the non-ice season. They are proud to say that the RLD, the first privately built ice surface in more than 50 years, operated with a small profit in 2009/2010.

Two of the most pressing needs are ‘bleacher’ seating and ice painting equipment. To that end the managers are organizing an auction, to be held at the Rocky Lake Dome arena on July 22. The auction will be preceded by a barbeque at 5pm, with the auction following from 7 – 10pm, or until finished. The auctioneer, Mr. Brian Warshick, is sure to maximize both the enjoyment and value received on all items.

Your support for this worthwhile endeavor would be greatly appreciated. RLDA realizes that in today’s business environment, requests of this nature are common, but with a facility that has greeted more than 35,000 users of all ages, plus family for ice related sports and will see several thousand more for the lacrosse and ball hockey season, the need for spectator accommodation and ice making equipment is critical.

New Community Discussion Group Opens

The first weekly meeting of a new discussion group in Fall River, was held May 27, at the LWF Community Hall, 843 Fall River Rd. Councillor Barry Dalrymple was the guest speaker. There will be more meetings held in the future. The plan is to discuss ANYTHING and EVERYTHING…the funny, the outrageous, the informative and the tragic; any topics residents find timely adn interesting.

A Creative Writer and Director of Stge Productions has agreed to speak in the future, as well as a local amateur (but amazingly good) photographer. Tacit agreement has been received by a physician in a family health clinic. We hope to find someone to speak knowledgeably about the spill in the Gulf of Mexico. What would you like to hear about?

Come to learn to participate and to help us find topics and speakers.

Come to help make this a meaningful experience.
