Fall River, Nova Scotia (D2N) – A homeowner on Howard Lane awoke to the sound of bottles rattling in his home at approximately 2:50 am, Wednesday June 2nd 2010.

An 18 year old man and an 18 year old woman have been arrested, along with two 17 year old males.

Police discovered a significant amount of stolen property in the vehicle they were driving, including liquor, a DVD player, golf clubs, iPods, a pellet gun, a large knife, brass knuckles, and bear spray.

According to police, the items seized may have been taken in an earlier break-in or from vehicles in the Fall River Village area.

The suspects remain in custody. Anyone who has had their vehicle broken into are asked to contact the RCMP.

Two weeks ago, vandals in vehicles went on a run through the Tamarac Hills Subdivision, hurling boulders through windows of cars, as well as through a travel trailer window, doing damage on the side of the trailer as well. It is unknown if the two incidents are related.

Windsor Junction (D2N) - A 60 year old woman has died following a car/train collision in Windsor Junction, Nova Scotia. The crash involving the victims light blue Hyundai Accent and a Montreal-bound VIA train occurred at approximately 1:10pm, only 30 metres from her house.

The RCMP have not identified the victim but several neighbours named the victim, who was crossing the train tracks leading to her home, as Julie Vials. They described Ms. Vials as “a very well known volunteer, and former volunteer fire fighter in her community”.

Via Rail spokeswoman Elizabeth Huart said the Montreal-bound train remained stopped on the tracks for approximately two hours before continuing their trip.
