Re: the F35 procurement process. Mr. Stoffer says 'We need to ensure that this aircraft is the best one for the men and women in the Canadian Forces". Perhaps Mr. Stoffer would like to inform us what he and his fellow NDPers consider as an alternative that could be the best for our Canadian Forces!! I want the best for our forces as well. The Chinese and Russian alternatives might meet Mr. Stoffers definition of 'the best" but I think Canadians living in the real world know otherwise.

Once again we find Mr. Stoffer talking out of both sides of his mouth. On one side he claims to be a strong supporter of our forces, on the other side, if given the chance he would send the forces down the river without a paddle. It is easy to talk when you only want to trash the other side. It is more difficult when you want to present a viable alternative. Mr. Stoffer is great at the trash talking but always lets us down when it comes to presenting real world solutions.

Barry, don't be so tough on yourself. Many go through life and never learn. I would guess that they are the people in search of their entitlements that don't mind dishonesty and all the other adjectives and oxymorons you mentioned as long as they get what they want. I always say that people get what they ask for most times, although there are very few that admit voting for the current crop.

Gary, after my many years I have come to learn there are several words that when used together, they become contradictory ---an oxymoron. One of those combinations is politician/ commitment, others are politician/ integrity, politician/ transparency, politician/ common sense... So when Mr. Paris makes a commitment, written or verbal, you have to immediately realize it is an oxymoron and therefore, by definition, NO commitment was ever made.

For instance did Mr. Dexter make a commitment to balance the budget with No tax increase. We have come to learn that he also is a true to form politician and as such his combination of words around commitments and integrity are oxymorons.

There are of course some words that when combined are like stating the obvious, are double adjectives and are synomons. What is an example of that--- politician/ greed.

I am probably older than you are Gary, and it took many years of disappointment to learn this. As you grow older and you get a written (or verbal) commitment from a politician you will realize that you have received something worthless.

There is an old saying-- Fool us once shame on him; fool us twice shame on us!!! Guess who is laughing at you now!!!

Just for readers information ;Minister Percy Paris was a no-show at the Waverley meeting despite a written committment. We were not even given notice that he would not attend despite a written acceptance of our invitation.

The meeting was helpful to the board that has restructured and will continue under a new chairman, Bill Horne and with a new energy brought to the organization by some new young members and an infusion of the old. The park will survive and the tenders are out for the new ballfield thanks to Councillor Dalrymple and the HRM.

Mr. Dalrymple deserves credit for providing us a very informative summary of a number of issues facing this HRM district. Taking time to write such involves sacrifice of what would otherwise be personal time, but is critical to fulfilling his responsibilities as our elected councillor. Congratulations and Thank You!!
