What a Difference a Day Makes!

On August 20, this house sat at its long-time address on the #2 Highway; on August 21, it was safely on its new lot on the Holland Road, just a couple of miles away!

Phil Leil and his crew from Phil Leil Enterprises, based in Truro, removed the structure with cranes and transported it to its new location during the middle of the night. Leil has moved many structures during his long career, including a very large church!

Adults and children alike stopped by the Holland Road address to watch as the home, purchased by the Morehouse family, was positioned on its new foundation.

Fall River Veterinary Clinic owners, doctors Bowers and Coxhead, purchased the house and land, which was originally located between the UltraMar Garage and the former Sign of the Fish building in Fall River. They plan to build a new veterinary clinic on the property and needed to remove the house in order to do so.

“We noticed what they were doing. We had heard rumours the local Veterinary clinic was relocating there, into a new spot that was going to be built,” said Louise Morehouse. “So my husband went to talk to them, and we ended up buying it!”

The couple are not sure what they are going to do with their new house, which now sits beside their own home next door. “We might rent it out, we might sell it, or we might move into it ourselves!” Louise said with a chuckle. “We’ll just have to wait and see; you never know what might happen!”
