Budget doesn’t eliminate planned projects – Fall River Park and Ride property purchased

Fall River, Nova Scotia (D2N) – Despite having to tighten their belts, city council’s new Budget did not mean the elimination of any of the projects in the works for District 2. And now, Fall River is one step closer to having Transit between the community and the city.

“The Park and Ride is bought and paid for,” revealed Dalrymple. Residents had been asking if the area where work is being done on the corner of the 118 off-ramp and Perrin Drive is the location where the new Park and Ride is to be built.

Although work is being done at the road front entrance to Perrin Drive, just over from the lights that were installed two years ago, the location purchased by the HRM for the Park and Ride, is actually located adjacent to the road front property now under construction.

“The tender for the design of the new Park and Ride is out, and the property is paid for,” said the Councillor.“We are still doing $10 million in Transit this year,”  The $10 million the Councillor is referring to, includes getting Transit into Fall River, and the Stanfield International airport. It also includes work to the new Transit Station being constructed in Dartmouth.

Dalrymple says he is pleased with the Budget as well as with the progress being made by the HRM with planned projects, including Transit. “At the end of the day, the fact is, our taxes are not going up and projects have not been cut,” said the councillor. “The Transit plan is still moving forward, and in the current economic climate this is a very, very good budget, particularly for us, in rural and suburban districts.”
