Windsor Junction (D2N) - A 60 year old woman has died following a car/train collision in Windsor Junction, Nova Scotia.  The crash involving the victims light blue Hyundai Accent and a Montreal-bound VIA train occurred at approximately 1:10pm, only 30 metres from her house.

The RCMP have not identified the victim but several neighbours named the victim, who was crossing the train tracks leading to her home, as Julie Vials. They described Ms. Vials as “a very well known volunteer, and former volunteer fire fighter in her community”.

Via Rail spokeswoman Elizabeth Huart said the Montreal-bound train remained stopped on the tracks for approximately two hours before continuing their trip.

    Julie was greatly missed at the Seinors Academy this morning . We met her family this morning .and a dear friend of hers from England . They had some wonderful stories to tell us about Julie .

  3. Julie was great friend for over 45 years She will be greatly missed in England as in Nova Scotia. It was a privrlige to know and love her and to be present at the celebration of her life and to meet all her friends. Love you Julié. Sheila
